Is the gapless playback only a feature of the full size pod or does it carry over to the nano too?
I believe that the Nanos can play gapless. I looked on the tech specs page on Apple's site but i don't see it. I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure that the Nanos can play gapless.

As for my opinion on the nanos...

I dislike them. I wasn't fond of the Mini asthetics wise. Durable, for sure. But I just don't find them as nice to look at, and now that the Nanos are the same tacky colors, it's back to the ugliness. I know people were buying up the Minis, I'm just personally not a fan of the styling... If you all want to buy them up go ahead, just count me out :p

I'd be happy if they supported over-the-air WiFi syncing. We can update the OS OTA but not sync my contacts and calendar items? Sheesh.

No worries man :) lucky you did, such a nice shot.. I might just have to ask for a high res version for a wallpaper :D it really is a stunning shot man.. the light cast across the benches, the city lights in the background.. it almost looks so isolated, just the bench and the city.. you can image someone sat there alone staring out into nothing with just their thoughts.. really is a fantastic photo :)
I know a photos good when it makes me think all sorts like that!

again, you dont fail to impress :D looks alot like a wallpaper I have! Again, beautiful shot man :)

Thanks for the kind words! I've only been really shooting for a year so I've been trying to get out and shoot as much as possible. I try to post a bunch and get as much criticism as possible to help me improve. It's nice when someone really likes a shot!

mine for today.. my beautiful little half sister :) loved the lighting here.. basically no PP at all

That shot is fantastic. outstanding light, nice bokeh, beautiful subject!

    Mine for today.

Shot this for a contest a week or so ago. The contest subject was "the end". Saw this walking and thought it fit for the end of an era. No one uses payphones anymore. Got a lot of flack for not removing the can on the ledge but it didn't bother me as I was documenting the scene.

    My favorite part:

Microsoft has announced its new iPod competitor, Zune. It says that this device is all about building communities. Are you worried?

In a word, no. I've seen the demonstrations on the Internet about how you can find another person using a Zune and give them a song they can play three times. It takes forever. By the time you've gone through all that, the girl's got up and left! You're much better off to take one of your earbuds out and put it in her ear. Then you're connected with about two feet of headphone cable.

    Fishes,
    narco.

But do Americans REALLY want to be building laptops/ipods/ipads? i think society in developed countries such as the states has vigorously changed since 20 years ago.

I wouldn't want to man the production line but i'd love to setup automation, especially if the price was right.

But the environmental impact that manufacturing has is huge. I'll take a discount on my products if it means the chinese will ruin their environments faster than we can.

It's appropriate that Toys'r'Us would carry the iPad 2, an overpriced toy.

While the iPad certainly can be a great toy, anyone who believes that a powerful, intuitive, easy to use tablet computer is only a toy is a complete idiot.

I was joking around - in the original game there were literally sections that were copied and pasted to artificially lengthen the game.
Yea, the Library, I got that. I just misunderstood you, and thought you meant parts of Reach were artificially lengthened, which I was confused about. And yes, thankfully, there are no levels in this game reminiscent of The Library in CE, or Cortana in Halo 3. Those 2 levels, and the Flood within, are some of the worst things in the series, in my opinion.

i'm in the camp that doesn't care if this developer wants to take his toys and go home. i'm not a huge facebook user... heck... i pretty much only have a facebook account so i can "fan" people or companies to keep up on stuff. i can't be bothered with all that wall posting and the games... OMG the games  i just don't have the time for all that nonsense... so he can go ahead and take his toys.... i'll just read what i need to with the version i have or read it online later when i think about it (which is pretty much what i do now... i'm lucky if i check facebook once a week.)

The Classic will likely be around for a couple more years at least, or until the price of an equivalent (at least 128Gb) iPod Touch approaches the $249 price point.

Perhaps sooner if cloud-based storage capacity becomes the norm very very quickly.

If we don't see 128 Gb at this year's refresh we'll see something cloud-based introduced. We might see both.

I completely agree. It would be a big surprise to me that any method of connecting to an OS X Mac would allow it to be controlled without specific permissions granted by the administrator account, suggesting these guys left the account open on purpose .

No, the way this works is to effectly by-pas all that. All buffer overflow "hacks" do this.

What you do is send a poorly formatted, out of spec network packet. The driver reads the packet which is oversized and places it in memory. The packet being over sized over writes some of the driver code. Some of this over written code is an entry point to the driver. So the next time that entry point is called the hackers code is executed. One you are able to incert your own code into the Kernel all that "permissions stuff" is moot because you have effectiviely loaded your own operating system code over top of Mac OS. In a real-world exploit the little bit of code in the first oversized packet would contain a loader that would read following packets.

This kind os hack is very, very hard to do. and very easy to patch the driver so it can't happen. In fact any code review should have caught it. Kind of proves that whoever wrote the wireles driver didn't bother with a peer review code walkthrough.

With this 3D facetracking display being rumored, the first thing I thought of was the future of iPad gaming.
Imagine playing a game, where instead of moving the right analog to change the camera angle, you just move your head to look around the corner.
(come on everybodys tried it with there tv at least once :P)

But then I came upon the fact that the placing of the cam on the ipad would pretty much prevent landscape mode since your thumb would be in the way.
Then of course, theres the new smart cover or any docking system, you could prop it up in landscape mode and use some sort of bluetooth controller or maybe an iPhone as a controller to your iPad.

    I would be so impressed.

    I hope this is true!!!

How is Sony's track record with sensors though?
Let's go Fall! (Not even WWDC ;))

They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.

Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.

Damn, album artwork doesn't work in my country. I'm from Latvia (in Europe, just in case) and iTunes is not available here. So, just for getting album artwork, you'll need an account in iTunes, I've tried to make one, but iTunes ignore my credit card, cause it's not registered in US (or other available countries) Really want to use this feature. Maybe someone know what can I do... Thanks in advance

    WOW!
Curious to know what is your idea of an extra-ordinary Mac Setup?

It's not actually my setup - I just wanted to drop a link to it, since I believe it blasts most other peoples collections away :)

Apple Airlines, a new premium air carrier to buck the trend of the various low cost airlines and cost cutting of services!

    You could be close.

Maybe Apple's made so much money, they're buying Steve another jet. :)

i just got my macbook back yesterday after waiting for over a month for them to replace the heatsink
Is this all the service they offered you? I contacted Apple when the RSS started to become a problem and was told that I could go to a certified Apple repair centre of choice.

I phoned one up who had already dealt with a former TIBook of mine and they said they would order the heatsink and get back to me when it arrives. My MacBook then got a date with the repair man the next day and the morning after I could go and collect it (new screw not included).

What I do recommend to everyone, is that they create a guest account WITH admin rights before they hand in the computer, so that the guys can play around with sleep settings and have a look at the system log.

If they had any talent to begin with, they'd be making enough money with the tool where the cost of it would be meaningless anyway. ;)

You must be new to the creative field. ;)

Hackers rank up there with drug dealers as the scum of the earth. Pathetic, cocky wastes of human life. And no - there's no way you can convince me otherwise and I know I'm not in the minority on this one.

Side Note: Of course I'm talking about the ones who release their stuff into the wild and don't just notify the software company about the problem and keep it to themselves (those are good people and should be commended - it's the other ones that are a waste of flesh)

I agree....but wouldn't it be better to say, malicious hackers? I think that most hackers are good people and just like to tinker with things. Of course there's always going to be some bad apples.
